About 17-4PH Stainless Steel

17-4 PH is a martensitic precipitation - hardened stainless steel. It’s known for its corrosion resistance and high levels of strength and hardness, especially when heat treated. 17-4 can be heat treated to a variety of hardness and toughness levels, allowing users to customize post-sintering properties of the alloy to suit a wide variety of applications.

Binder Jet 3D Printing Process

Binder jetting produces high-resolution parts with fine feature detail. The printer deposits powder and binder into thin layers to build the part layer-by-layer. Green parts are sintered in a furnace for final densification. Parts have up to 99% part density with ±2.0% dimensional tolerance. The ability to print multiple parts at once makes this technology excellent for low- to mid- volume production of custom prototypes or end-use parts.

  • prototypes and end-use parts

  • low-mid volume production

  • smaller parts, approx. 2" x 2" x 2"

Finishing Options

Bead Blasting

Parts are blasted with fine glass bead to smooth surfaces and give a matte appearance. Recommended for consumer-facing parts.

Standard

All parts are cleaned and ready for use when shipped. There may be residual powder or marks where support structures were located.

Pillar aspect ratio

Aspect ratio should not exceed 8:1. For example, the height of the pillar should be less than 8x its width.
